Joy Jot #6 Happy Easter

30 March 2024

Happy Easter friends!

I almost sent a St. Patrick’s day jot but as time went on, I realized I could send an Easter message instead. So, I’ll save that lucky message for next March. :)

For my 50th birthday last year, Jason and I visited Israel, Jordan, and Egypt. What better way to celebrate a middle life birthday than visit the place where Jesus marked the meridian of time! One reason I chose this trip was to see how people worship differently than me. I wanted to feel the Middle East, see the people, and have my faith strengthened along side others who believe in God.

Our first stop was Israel. Our local guide, Joy, told us that our time in Israel would change our black and white view of the Bible into COLOR. She was right!

As we went from site to site, we saw, smelled, and touched the places Jesus lived, walked and taught.

One of my favorite moments on the trip happened at the Church of the Nativity in Bethlehem. Often the sacred places in Israel have large churches built over them, and this was no different. People waited in line to enter the Grotto of the Nativity, to see and touch the place where baby Jesus may have been born. As I waited in the crowd, preparing to walk down the stairs into the Grotto, I observed this beautiful sight, got a little teary, and took this photo…

Look at the people. See the light shining on their faces. All of these people believe in Jesus. I am not alone in my belief.

As you celebrate Jesus this weekend, you are not alone. People all over the world are loving and seeking him too.

May his love reach you today. Isaiah speaks truth: “his hand is stretched out still.” He keeps his promises. He knows and loves you individually. He can help you overcome the difficult experiences in your life. He can make all things for your good.

Happy Easter!

Amy
